Head of Department
Istinye University Social Work Department aims to educate competent social workers with their expert academic staff and elaborate curriculum and contents. Students of the Department of Social Work, who have theoretical and practical courses, will carry out their internship practice in the seventh and eighth semesters of their 4-year education. Although our department’s language is Turkish through English Grammer and Professional English courses our students reach an English level in which they can follow the international literature related to the field of social and they graduate as social workers with an international vision.
Istinye University Social Service graduates quickly adapted to the new teaching order of Istinye University in accordance with the changing social conditions due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 disease, which marked our last years, and gave the 2019-2020 Spring semester courses through distance education. Our students watched their lessons by sitting in front of the computer in their hometowns, they could repeat the lessons as much as they wanted with the recorded videos, they had the opportunity to study at home at any time they wanted with the transparencies prepared by the instructors and the books they recommended, and they educated themselves in a comfortable environment.
Our students, who gave their final exams in front of their computers with homework, exams or open exams, also improved their distance learning, participation and speaking skills, which are the reality of our age.
While I wish our students fruitful success in the 2021-2022 academic year, I also wish our first graduates a future full of health and success.
We suppressed the sadness of a few students from our ISU Social Work Department family and their families caught in COVID-19 with the joy of their full recovery. We are at peace with the fact that the conscious students of our department have not lost any losses together with their families, by complying with the measures to protect themselves and their families from COVID-19 in a timely manner.
I wish all our students, their families, ISU family and both our country and all humanity healthy and epidemic-free days.
