According to the World Health Organization (WHO); A midwife is defined as “a person who provides necessary care and counseling during pregnancy, at birth and after birth, who gives birth normally under his own responsibility, who provides newborn care and family planning counseling”. Midwives contribute to the formation of healthy generations as leaders and role models by serving as health consultants to women and families as well as to the society. The midwifery profession is extremely important in the successful execution of mother-child health and primary health care services. The need for midwives is increasing day by day in order to implement the policies developed by the Ministry of Health to encourage normal birth and encourage breastfeeding.

As Istinye University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Midwifery, our aim is to train midwives who can provide competent midwifery services in the professional field, respond to the needs of family and society, have critical thinking skills, use technology effectively, and adopt the midwifery approach. adopts the philosophy of lifelong learning and bases its actions on evidence-based practices. Students are provided with free internship opportunities in 30 high-tech hospitals, including "Liv Hospital", "Medical Park" and "VM Medical Park", in order to transform the theoretical training they receive from the experienced and expert academic staff of the university. implemented in the field.
