The annual meeting of the PathoBiology group of the EORTC (European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer), the largest cancer research organization in Europe, was held at Istinye University.
The group, that meets every year in a different city in Europe, met in our country this year. The Pathobiology group of the EORTC is a group that has recently discovered and introduced new biomarkers such as PAI and uPA for clinical use in breast cancer.
The meeting was held by Professor Engin Ulukaya who is the only group member from our country, and the manager of he Istinye University Molecular Cancer Research Center (ISUMCRC). The meeting was about new biomarkers on which the group had been working in cancer diagnosis and treatment. Moreover, some presentations were given on topics which concern the future of oncology such as cancer bioinformatics and tumor cells in circulation. In addition, 5 researchers from our country, 3 of them from Istinye University, presented their new findings.
